Robert Dunphy was elected as Somerset County Commissioner representing District 1 in November of 2004 and took office in January of 2005.  

Commissioner Dunphy "Bob" was born in the Town of Skowhegan and spent his youth in Highland Plantation, he later moved to the Town of Embden where he currently resides with his lovely wife, Dorothy.  Bob is the third of four children and maintains his home beside his mother.  Family has always been Bob's first priority.  Bob was educated at Anson Academy and attended the University of Maine.  Bob married the former Dorothy Padham in 1968 and together they raised three children, Melissa, Pamela and Patrick.  Bragging rights include five grandsons at present and one more grandson and his first granddaughter due in mid 2006.

Bob was very active in his children's lives and served as a support person in their various activities. Rarely did he miss the events they were involved in.

Bob worked for his brother in a family run business for 24 years and then left to pursue other interests.  Bob worked for the United States Postal Service for several years and currently holds the position of Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector for several Towns in Somerset County and hold the position of Plumbing Inspector for numerous Unorganized Townships in Somerset, Franklin, Piscataquis and Penobscot Counties.

Bob has dabbled in running and actually finished the Sugarloaf Marathon in 2004.  If time allows, Bob plans to pick running up again.

 

Bob has always had a strong passion for Town politics.  He served as a Selectman, Assessor and School Board Member for the Town of Embden and is committed to familiarizing himself with the many issues facing the Town and now, the County as County Commissioner representative for District 1.  It is Bob's desire to serve his constituents well.
